Today, for the first time since I left my professional career to enter public service 18 month ago, I wonder if I made the wrong choice. I am ashamed to be a “Politician” – even in opposition, when the blood of #Anitha is clearly on the hands of politicians in Govt. Office. As the father of 2 young children, I can’t imagine the pain of #Anitha’s parents, who lost such a promising light in the prime of youth.
I am disgusted & enraged by elected officials who put self-enrichment and ego-gratification above the basic principle: FIRST do no harm! I think of the many points at which such a tragedy could have been averted, and how many times other priorities drove actions/decisions. Even if things had been settled – 1 way or the other – by March or so, many 1000’s of students could have made clear choices & moved on. But the Centre-State maneuvering went on till Mid-August, & left students/parents with no clarity – and hence inability to make decisions.
Just when it couldn’t get worse, it now turns out that there has been a huge “nativity certificate” scam, running into 1000’s of people. The TN Health Department decided to use a unique TN-ID for Merit Lists, not NEET Roll#. Your guess: Stupidity OR mal-intent (corruption).
How to co-exist with the human scum whose greed and perverse ambitions made money from the same system which drove #Anitha to her end? I don’t think I have the stomach for this sewer – where authoritarian, incompetent, corrupt, bottom-feeders thrive through illegal means.
